Faces for March 12, 2015

"I saw something nasty in the restroom!"

This poor little fixture may never recover from the trauma!

We're just happy little buildings, happy little buildings, happy little buildings! Here us sing!

I am so very, very sorry, sir! I had NO IDEA you were trapped inside my cabbage! Here, by all means, let me release you!
Do I get three wishes first, though?

Special thanks to Jeff W. for finding these great examples of pareidolia. What (or should we say WHO?) are you seeing out and about in unexpected places? Send your submissions to findingfacespareidolia@gmail.com.

Face Rock, Kodiak Island

Face Rock, Kodiak Island

With the backward curving of the strata communicating long, glowing hair to me, I see a woman gazing toward the distant horizon.

Is that what you see?

Finding Faces: What is Pareidolia?

Some see a face on Mars.

Sylvester Stallone's image is inside a bell pepper.

Once I found a screaming baby's face in the tile in a public restroom. That captured child still haunts me sometimes.

What is it in our brains that makes us see faces in inanimate objects? The phenomenon is called pareidolia. The brain takes something insignificant and assigns to it a significance that is not inherent.

This blog will share some examples of the phenomenon. Find some of your own and want to see them online? Send your submissions with your name and email address to
findingfacespareidolia@gmail.com. We'll publish the most interesting ones and credit you with first name, last initial.
